Software Engineer (Support) (for Head Office)

Location:Head Office, Islamabad
Experience: Min of one year experience, in a similar position, in a financial Institute is a must. Experience requirement will be relaxed to six months for candidates having hands-on experience of mobile application development (Have published at least one original Android app- <<Details Required>>)
Education:Bachelors in Computer Science (4yrs.) or Equivalent IT qualification.

Job Purpose:

The Software Engineer Support (SES) must have hands on experience of providing high quality support to meet customer requirements. The SES will assist the SSES/DH MIS in carrying out the Support Function. The Software Engineer Support must have an understanding of the support complexities of the products and environments being supported, as well as an understanding of the support process and its requirements.

Duties will also involve analysis, design, development, testing, maintenance, implementation and enhancements of in-house developed programs/applications and systems.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement software at different sites.
  • Provide support and perform troubleshooting.
  • Help develop support infrastructure and improve internal support tools.
  • Provide responsive and solid remote technical support in application installation and configuration, replication and diagnosis of customer problems via email and phone.
  • Document bug reports and incident reports, and develop internal knowledge base.
  • Log all information about problems and follow through to resolution.
  • Revise and create user-end documentation for software products.
  • Must continue to develop technical expertise in in-house developed and procured product lines.
  • Provide training and guidance to support personnel.
  • Hands-on testing of the Customized Solutions.
  • Write programs and procedures according to specifications.
  • Test and debug completed program and procedures to locate and remove errors.
  • Conduct Research and Development work within the scope of work.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Location:Head Office, Islamabad.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience of managing an online Corporate Database. Hands on knowledge of Oracle 19c/12c Administration is a must
Education:
  • Bachelors in Computer Science (4yrs.) or Equivalent IT qualification
  • Certification in Oracle Database Administration will be a plus.
Age Limit:  Up to 40 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, develops, and designs data models using standard diagramming techniques, in conjunction with application development teams; creates logical data models and translates into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed database structures.
  • Monitors relational databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases; addresses a variety of database integration issues including migration between disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications.
  • Maintains development, test, and production RDBMS environments.
  • Design and Implement database solutions for Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Cyber Security.
  • Monitors and maintains database security and database software, in cooperation with data security administrators.
  • Provides advice to applications programmers in the effective use of database languages; advises on troubleshooting, exception processing needs, and other data management issues.
  • Maintains availability and integrity of databases through multiple access schemes; facilitates sharing of common data by overseeing proper key and index management and data dictionary maintenance.
  • May evaluate and recommend testing and evaluation of new procedures, software, and hardware.
  • Monitors and manages database backups, logs, and journals; installs, maintains, and upgrades database software; restores and/or recovers data as required.
  • Creates, procures and maintains various database related documents such as manuals and programmers handbooks.
  • Provide 24 hour on-call support. Job shall be shift based.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to interpret data models and to develop database structures.
  • Ability to use standard diagramming techniques to design and develop computer data models.
  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications.
  • Ability to program, configure, manage, and maintain the operation of complex relational databases.
  • Ability to develop and manipulate large, complex data sets.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of data integrity methods and techniques.
  • Ability to perform acceptance testing on computer systems, applications, and hardware.
  • Ability to install, maintain, modify, and upgrade database software.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.
  • Ability to operate on a scheduled 24-hour on-call basis.
  • Develops and implements the overall database Information Security Strategy.
